Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of Sri Lanka after 01.00 p.m. today. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces. Showers may occur in the Northern provinces and Trincomalee district during the morning. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northcentral and Uva provinces during the morning.
Weather forecast for sea areas :
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the Island, particularly during the afternoon or night. Winds will be North-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. The sea areas around the island will be slight. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
Flood warnings :
A minor flood warning has been issued due to considerable rainfall recorded in some of the Upstream / Middle Reach / Downstream catchment areas of Deduru Oya Basin as of 6.00 AM today. The Irrigation Department warns there is a possibility of a minor flood situation in the low-lying areas of the Deduru Oya valley situated in Wariyapola, Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Kobeigane, Bingiriya, Pallama, Chilaw, Arachchikattuwa and Rasnayakapura District Secretariat divisions.
