Shocking claims on Lalith Kotelawala’s death

The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka was informed today that the late businessman Deshamanya Lalith Kotelawala was placed under house arrest prior to his demise.

According to media reports, the Court was informed today that Kotelawala was confined to his house by a group of lawyers prior to his passing.

The revelation was made by the president of the Golden Key Depositors’ Association, Marco Perera when the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by his Association was taken up for hearing before the Supreme Court bench comprising of Justices S. Thurairajah, Achala Vengappuli and Priyantha Fernand.

President of the Golden Key Depositors’ Association, Marco Perera sought permission to present more submissions in this regard, after which the court fixed the hearing of the FR petition for May 08, 2024.

Prominent Sri Lankan businessman Lalith Kotelawala passed away on October 21 this year at the age of 84 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
