Railways strike called off after final warning

The strike launched by Railway Locomotive Engineers Union has been  called off.

Earlier today, Sri Lanka’s Railway Department requested the eighty-four (84) railway engine drivers who are engaged in a strik to report for duty immediately.

Department said that those who fail to report for duty will be considered as having vacated their posts.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday declared Railways as an essential service to counter the strike launched by railway engine drivers. (NewsWire)
