During a rally in Panadura, NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that Sri Lanka cannot rely on selling state-owned assets or taking out loans to achieve development. He pointed out that this approach has been unsuccessfully employed for the past three to four decades.
MP Dissanayake also noted that if President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s plan was to develop the country through loans, he could have done so during the 2015-2019 period when he secured US$12.5 billion in loans.
