The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has paid tribute to the late politician Mangala Samaraweera.
The opposition politician passed away today while being treated for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Colombo.
Issuing a statement, the SLPP said former Minister Mangala Samaraweera leaves behind a unique legacy of politics that he sincerely believed in.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has expressed his sadness over the demise of politician Mangala Samaraweera.
Stating that Samaraweera had worked closely with him in politics during a certain period of time, the Prime Minister said the late politician had shown support for both the party and him personally.
Mahinda Rajapaksa defined Mangala Samaraweera as a close friend, politician, and colleague.
The Prime Minister further expressed his condolences to the family and supporters of the late Mangala Samaraweera. (NewsWire)
