Actor Thilak leaves “Kopi Kade” after 35 years protesting against political episode

Popular actor and presenter Thilak Kumara Rathnayake, who played the role of ‘Somadasa’ in the famous drama series ‘Kopi Kade’ has tendered his resignation following an incident where a recent episode of the drama had mocked the teachers who are protesting against salary anomalies.

Kopi Kade is known as South Asia’s longest running drama series, which is telecasted in state owned television channel ITN.

Thilak has acted as Somadasa of Kopi Kade for more than 35 years and is a household name due to his presence in the drama series. He has also worked as a copywriter for over 300 episodes of Kopi Kade.
