The Health Ministry has been advised by Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera to cremate the unclaimed bodies of coronavirus victims.
The AG’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayarate said the directive was issued following advise sought by the Health Ministry in this regard.
She said the Director General of Health Asela Gunawardena has been informed that the bodies can be cremated as per the Quarantine Regulations.
The Attorney General has advised to cremate the bodies of 19 Covid victims that remain unclaimed by relatives due to various reasons.
Following the AG’s directive, the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has been advised to cremate the 19 unclaimed Covid bodies. (NewsWire)
