Yesterday, amidst the death of the rare black leopard, another leopard was caught in a snare in Yatiyanthota.
Wildlife officers had taken steps to tranquilize and rescue the animal after a 6 hour mission.
Leopard had been reportedly trapped in a snare behind a house.
“It is quite saddening that snares have become an inevitable source of injury and death to our spotted friends.” Environmental Conservation Group Team Leopocon said in a Facebook post.
