Former Sri Lanka cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga has been approached by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe to be the Chairman of the National Sports Council.
The 1996 world cup winning captain, Arjuna Ranatunga confirmed to NewsWire that the minister made a request from him to head the National Sports Council.
Ranatunga said that he will take a final decision after meeting the authorities later today.
Meanwhile, the Sports Ministry said that the National Sports Council will be appointed tomorrow.
Former Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardena was the Chairman of the council previously, but he and his committee resigned soon after Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa quit. (NewsWire)
