An Army officer resident in Horana has been identified as a Covid patient, health authorities said today.
This Army officer was on duty at Katunayake airport and authorities believe that he might have contracted the virus when he was handing arrivals of stranded Sri Lankans.
Family members of the Army officer have been ordered to practice self-quarantine, while 4 shops he visited in Horana recently have been ordered to be closed. Employees of the 4 shops have also been ordered to quarantine themselves.
So far today, 8 Covid19 patients have been identified in Sri Lanka, increasing the total infected Covid19 patients in Sri Lanka to 1566; 775 of them have recovered now.
