Artist sentenced to 36 years in Jail for sexually abusing boy

An artist has been sentenced to 36 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing an underage child at a Buddhist temple.

The Court was informed that the suspect was involved in drawing paintings on the walls of the temple.

The incident had taken place at the Rajamaha Viharaya in Thalawa.

The suspect is reported to have sexually abused the child between 1st-30th June 2013.

The victim has been identified as an underage boy.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect had sexually abused the child on multiple occasions inside the temple.

The Court convicted the suspect on six different counts, while he was also ordered to pay a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the victim. (NewsWire)
