Ashton Agar breaks Rangana Herath’s 7-year-old record

A 7 year old cricket record belonging to a Sri Lankan was broken during the T20I match between Australia and New Zealand in Wellington today.

During the 3rd T20I match of the series, Australian left arm spinner Ashton Agar took 6 wickets for 30 runs, helping his team to a consolation win. With that, he became the 1st left arm spinner to take 6 wickets in a T20 international innings.

Until today, Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath held the record for the most wickets taken by a left arm spinner in a T20I innings, when he took 5 wickets for just 3 runs during Sri Lanka’s famous win against New Zealand in the quarterfinals of the 2014 T20 World Cup. (NewsWire)
