Thirty (30) Sri Lankans have been taken into custody after they were found in a house in Chilaw while waiting to leave the country illegally via boat.
The Sri Lanka Navy had arrested the suspects during a special inspection conducted on a house in the Iranawila area in Chilaw last evening.
Fourteen suspects, who had been hiding in the house waiting to illegally migrate to Australia via boat, were arrested yesterday.
Further operations had led to the arrest of another 15 suspects, while the man who had provided lodging is also reported to be among the group.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Batticaloa, Jaffna, Mullativu, and Puttalam. (NewsWire)
