Sri Lanka Podujana Permuna member of the Rajanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested in connection to the attempted bank robbery that took place in Thambuttegama yesterday.
Two armed men had attempted to rob Rs. 22.3 million in cash that was brought to be deposited in a private bank in the area.
However, their escape was foiled by a Police Sergeant who had apprehended both suspects and seized the stolen cash.
The Police said investigations have led to the arrest of a member of the Rajanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha who is reported to have provided the motorcycle used in the robbery.
The Thambuttegama Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
