Sri Lanka cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa has qualified to represent the national team after passing all the necessary fitness tests.
According to cricket sources, Rajapaksa underwent the 2km run fitness test and passed it with 8.33 minutes, well under the required 8.35 minutes.
He also reduced his skinfolds to 71 from 104, reaching Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) policy on skinfolds which requires it to be below 85.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa has fulfilled both the 2km run and skinfold tests of the SLC, making him eligible to represent the national team.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has also concluded the inquiry launched against Rajapaksa for the recent remarks he made to the media, criticizing the SLC.
Bhanuka made headlines for criticizing the SLC and the national team head coach after he was dropped from the national squad over a lack of fitness. He thereafter took up a fitness challenge to prove himself.
Rajapaksa has reduced his weight from 85kg to 76 kg, and has also passed the 2km run and skinfold fitness tests, all within a period of 40-days.
After achieving the necessary qualifications, Bhanuka Rajapaksa is now eligible for selection to represent Sri Lanka in the upcoming tour of India. (NewsWire)
