The body of a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing last week has been found in an abandoned house in the Kalagoha Ela area in Dambulla.
The Police said the victim who is a grade-09 school student had been reported missing three days ago.
Investigations have revealed that the girl had been taken away a few days ago by her stepfather and his friend after arriving on a motorcycle.
The mother of the child had thereafter filed a complaint with the Dambulla Police claiming that her daughter has been missing for nearly two days.
The Police had found the body of the girl, following a tip-off claiming that a foul smell was emanating from an abandoned house in the Kalagoha Ela area.
The body which was found on a bed inside the house, wrapped in a cloth, was later identified as that of the missing girl.
The Police have launched an investigation to apprehend the two men suspected of having taken away the girl, resulting in her death. (NewsWire)
