A British couple have left their posts as teachers in London to live and work in Sri Lanka, the UK’s Telegraph reported.
As the stress of Britain’s public sector jobs took its toll, the couple took the plunge and quit for Sri Lanka.
‘I swapped a £40,000 salary for £150 a month so I could live in Sri Lanka. Having left intending to start our own educational initiative, we’ve agreed to help launch a brand new charitable centre for young people. For this we’ve agreed to receive the wage of a typical Sri Lankan teacher – just 60,000lkr (£150) a month each,” they said.
