The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has opposed a proposal on the Muthurajawela wetlands and surrounding villages being acquired for a development project.
The Urban Development Authority is set to take over the Muthurajawela wetlands and surrounding villages for a multi-use development project.
Earlier, the Archbishop accused a private company of having fraudulently acquired nearly 700 acres of the wetlands for the development project.
Issuing a new statement, the Archbishop of Colombo charged that the Centre for Environmental Authority and Government Ministers have broken their promises on the matter. (NewsWire)
