A bus which was traveling from Katharagama to Colombo has met with an accident in the Southern Expressway.
The accident has taken place near the 88th post between the Baddegama and Pinnadoowa interchanges.
A group of pilgrims have been traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. Several injured passengers and the driver of the bus have been hospitalized, sources reported.
Police say that the accident has occurred due the diver of the bus falling asleep while driving. The bus had dragged along for about 100 meters after skidding off the road and fallen into a precipice, the police further said. (NewsWire)
