Calculators allowed in A/Ls for the first time in history

Permission to use calculator during A/L Accounting, Engineering Technology, Biotechnology Engineering and IT stream papers will be granted, Examination Department announced today.

“Scientific calculators won’t be allowed. We will only permit non programmable calculators,” Sanath Pujitha, the commissioner general of the examinations department told News1st.

“We hope to introduce this facility for the candidates of other state exams in future,” Pujitha noted.

Earlier this year, candidates sitting for Financial accountancy paper one and two at the Sri Lanka Accountants’ Service (Grade III) examination were allowed to use non-programmable calculators for the first time in local examination history.

However, it will be prohibited to bring electronic communicable equipment such as Wristwatches, mobile phones and other related electronic items.
