In an attempt to help peasants farmers make a better living, Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT) in Areaks Svay Village funded a training on climate-smart agriculture techniques and modern methods in animal husbandry along with fish farming, instead of using outdated traditional methods which proved to be ineffective with climate change. Mr. Mic Kykim Ing (CRDT Trainer) indicated that the center funded training 220 regional farmers in 11 villages and 9 communes. Moreover, he had shed light on the challenges of using the old traditional methods which failed to cope with the climate change, dwindling the yield
Mic Kikim Ing ,chief trainer of the rural development team said “My name is Mic Kikim Ing, I work for CRDT NGO. USAID fund is being used to build a training place for local farmers”
The chief of Village said, “we have had only a few skilled farmers who are aware of modern technology in farming while most of the rest are using traditional methods in planting and breeding livestock. However, we are training them on modern techniques. But it is not easy because most of the people who live here are from (Kuy) tribe”
