Central Expressway : Meerigama to Kurunegala in 25 min : Update on work completion

The Mirigama to Kurunegala stretch of the Central Expressway is nearing completion.

According to officials, the road is expected to be declared open in May.

The project will see the 39.91 km long road passing through Mirigama, Nakalagamuwa, Pothuhera and Dambokka, before reach Kurunegala.

Speaking to The Morning, Newspaper,  Ministry of Roads and Highways Secretary R.W.R. Pemasiri said that the section is to be opened on May.

“This would be very convenient for those who travel to Kandy, Kurunegala, and Dambulla. The entrance would be from Mirigama and the exit would be at Kurunegala; within 25 minutes.” he told The Morning Newspaper.

The Mirigama to Kurunegala stretch of the Central Expressway reportedly has 12 bridges, 140 boulders, and 42 culverts.(NewsWire)
