Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas is likely to start working again with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as the High Performance Centre fast bowling coach, according to Sri Lanka Cricket sources.
Senior SLC official told NewsWire that Sri Lanka Cricket was able to amicably settle the misunderstanding they had with Chaminda Vaas after discussing the matter with him.
Vaas resigned from his Sri Lanka Cricket job in the eve of Sri Lanka team’s departure to the West Indies late last month allegedly owing to a pay dispute.
“He has withdrawn his resignation now, we will officially announce this to media very soon” Senior SLC official added.
Earlier The Island Newspaper reported that SLC had demanded that Chaminda Vaas should make a public apology in order to settle the dispute but Vaas had refused the request.
“Minister Namal Rajapaksa had defended SLC’s action in Parliament but after full media exposure of behind the door happenings, Rajapaksa had softened his stance and had even met Vaas. It was following this meeting that SLC chief Shammi Silva had met Vaas, The Island learns. It was not clear whether the Sports Ministry had requested SLC to bring Vaas back on board.” The Island Newspaper report added. (NewsWire)
