Three underage children have died after their mother had jumped into a well along with them in the Ramanathapuram area in the Dharmapuram Police Division last evening.
The woman is said to have jumped into the well along with her children aged 08, 05 and 02, in an attempt to commit suicide.
The Police said the woman and her 02- year-old son were saved by area residents and were admitted to the Kilinochchi hospital, after which the son had died.
The woman is receiving treatment at the Kilinochchi hospital.
Meanwhile, her other two children, a son and a daughter, have died, with their bodies having been retrieved from the well together by the Police and area residents.
The Police suspect that the woman may have attempted suicide due to a personal family problem. (NewsWire)
