CID inquiry against 700 vehicles registered under fake documents

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been alerted on the registration of nearly 700 vehicles in Sri Lanka using fake documents.

According to the News First, State Minister of Vehicle Regulation Dilum Amunugama said an inquiry has been launched in this regard.

Individuals are reported to have fabricated the documents by accessing the registration system in a bid to evade detection.

State Minister Amunugama said action will be taken against officers responsible for changing data in the system.

He further said those involved in such activities aid the selling of vehicles using fake documents and the vehicles are currently in the hands of unsuspecting buyers. (NewsWire)
