The maximum amount of compensation provided to employees of private and semi-State organizations has been revised to Rs. 2.5 million.
Minister of Labour Nimal Siripala de Silva said employees whose employment has been ended based on the requirements of the organization will receive a compensation payment of Rs. 2.5 million.
The Gazette notification in this regard was issued by the Labour Ministry on 25th February, 2021.
The maximum amount for compensation has been revised from the earlier payment of Rs. 1.25 million announced in 2005.
Pointing out that the law was amended after a period of 15 years, Minister de Silva said it was essential to provide the utmost concession to the labour force of the country. (NewsWire)
