A complaint has been filed with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka over students of a school in the Valikamam area in the Jaffna Educational Zone being subjected to a full body check.
The parents of 72 children of the school have claimed that the students were forced to remove their school uniforms and were subjected to a full body check by officials of the school.
According to Hiru News, the school administration had conducted the body check after receiving reports of certain Grade 11 students having obtained tattoos.
The parents have claimed that school officials had verbally reprimanded students who had refused to remove their school uniforms.
They had filed the complaint with the Human Rights Commission office in Jaffna last week (11).
The parents have further claimed that there are no tattoos on the bodies of their children.
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has commenced investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
