Sri Lanka’s Department of Archaeology has informed that the Chinese Joint Venture to dredge and clean up the ancient Tissmaharama Wewa (Tissamaharama Irrigation Tank) must be suspended until permission is obtained from the Department of Archaeology, News1st reported.
According to Prof. Anura Manatunga, Director General of the Department of Archaeology, prior permission was not obtained from the Department before the cleanup efforts began.
