Sri Lanka fast bowling legend Lasith Malinga may receive a mentoring role with the National cricket team in the future.
Sri Lanka cricket coach Mikey Arthur said he has held discussions with Malinga, and the latter could be roped in as a mentor for the future Twenty-20 Cricket World Cup.
Arthur said Lasith Malinga has a wealth of knowledge in white ball cricket, and he is keen to see the bowling legend impart that knowledge with the young cricketers of the Sri Lankan team.
“I think, he has had a fantastic career. I think, with the World Cup being cancelled last it has just become a bridge too far for him. But he has had a wonderful career,” Mickey Arthur said, commenting on Malinga’s cricket career.
Lasith Malinga has announced his retirement from franchise cricket, but has not made any announcement on retiring from the Sri Lanka T20 cricket team. (NewsWire)
