A couple has been found dead inside a lodge in the Kalukele area in Nuwara Eliya this morning (27), Nuwara Eliya Police said.
They have reportedly come on a trip to Nuwara Eliya with their family members from Gokarella, Kirunegala. As per family members, they have had a barbecue party until midnight yesterday (26).
It was later revealed that the couple had taken the barbecue machine inside their room before going to bed, due to the extreme cold in the Nuwara Eliya area.
In the morning today, their family members have opened the room door as they have not woken up, to find the couple dead in their bed.
The deceased were identified as a 59-year-old male and a 58-year-old female. The bodies will be taken to the Judicial Medical Officer of the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital for an autopsy after an on-site examination by the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate, police said. (NewsWire)
