A man and a woman are reported to have jumped into the Mahaweli River from the Mahiyanganaya Bridge yesterday.
However, the man is reported to have saved himself by swimming to shore and has been hospitalized.
The Mahiyanganaya Police had thereafter arrived at the scene and had commenced an investigation in search of the missing woman.
The missing woman has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of the Rideemaliyadda area.
Investigations have revealed that the teenager had left her house last morning stating that she was attending a tuition class.
A witness has stated that the woman had jumped first and the boy had immediately followed her. (NewsWire)
