The National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Mulleriyawa has seen the admission of more Covid patients than its existing capacity.
The hospital administration said the IDH has the capacity to treat 120 Covid patients, but currently 138 patients are admitted for treatment.
All eight beds available at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital are occupied, while 20% of the patients have been provided oxygen, resulting in a need for more oxygen.
The hospital said there is a significant increase in the hospitalization of Covid infected people following the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Colombo General Hospital Dr. Chandana Gajanayake too has pointed out an increase in the admission of Covid infected people over the last few days. (NewsWire)
