Covid restrictions likely until December

Certain restrictions will have to remain until December this year in order to curb the unnecessary movement of people in Sri Lanka, health officials have revealed.

Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardane told reporters yesterday that the public’s behaviour during the weekend has shown they are taking things for granted.

He said the actions of people during the April New Year season resulted in a severe outbreak of the coronavirus and the public is behaving in a similar manner at present.

Dr. Asela Gunawardane called on the public to act with a sense of responsibility in order to curtail the spread of the virus.

He urged the people to strictly adhere to the health guidelines despite being vaccinated.

The Director-General of Health Services reiterated that the restrictions would have to be enforced until the end of this year. (NewsWire)
