An operation will be launched from today to conduct random rapid antigen tests on passengers in vehicles entering and exiting the Western Province.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 12 roadblocks will be set up at designated entry/exit points of the Western Province until further notice.
He said the roadblocks will remain until further notice and are being setup in collaboration with the tri-forces and the Health Ministry.
DIG Ajith Rohana said steps have been taken to conduct random rapid antigen tests in a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
The public have been urged to cooperate with officials engaged in conducting random rapid antigen tests at the roadblocks.
The 12 roadblocks are to be setup in the following areas:
Thoppuwa bridge – Kochchikade…
Badalgama bridge- Kotadeniyawa,
Halagala junction – Nittambuwa
Giriulla bridge- Meerigama
Samanabedda bridge – Dompe
Wahagoda bridge – Hanwella
Bentara bridge – Aluthgama
Thiniyawala junction
Ketagedella bridge – Ingiriya
Samandewala point – Badurelliya
Avittawa bridge – Meegahatenna
Welipenne interchange – Southern Expressway
