Another stock of 76,000 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka today.
The latest consignment arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake via a Qatar Airways cargo flight.
In May, the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) approved the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine in Sri Lanka.
With the latest stock, Sri Lanka has so far received over 488,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will also receive another 01 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, which is scheduled to arrive in the country tomorrow (24).
State Minister Professor Channa Jayasuman said the new stock will increase the total number of Sinopharm vaccine doses received thus far to 15.7 million doses.
He added that the total vaccines include those purchased by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) and received as donations from China. (NewsWire)
