The flight which was scheduled to bring Sri Lankans stranded in Qatar tomorrow (26) has been temporarily postponed.
273 Sri Lankans were scheduled to arrive from Qatar tomorrow morning in a special flight.
Additional Secretary to the President Admiral (Retd) Jayanath Colombage told media that flights from Kuwait and Qatar have been temporarily postponed, after some recent returnees tested Covid19 positive.
“I have instructed Sri Lanka’s Acting Ambassador in Qatar, as an interim measure, to immediately find accommodation for those stranded, following the cancellation of the Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Qatar, which was scheduled for today” Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Nearly 100 patients repatriated from Kuwait last week now have been identified as Covid19 patients.
1051 Sri Lankans in Qatar had contracted the Covid19 as of May 19th according to the Qatar Health Ministry.
