Digital signature system introduced at Ministry of Justice

 

All formalities related to the Ministry of Justice will be digitalised and a digital signature will be implemented with effect from today, Justice Minsiter Ali Sabry announced.

The Justice Minister also appointed a committee to overlook the digitalisation of the Ministry affairs, by launching the programme and placing his own digital signature.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Justice said, the programme was initiated due to the coronavirus pandemic, to help expedite procedures which would otherwise require a physical signature.

The Ministry added that the digital signature meets international standards as per ISO 27001:2013, which was acctredited in 2006 under the 19th Electronic Transaction Act which is to recognise and facilitate the formation of contracts, the creation and exchange of data messages, electronic mail, electronic documents, and other communications in electric form in Sri Lanka.
