Dinesh Weerakkody gets top position

Businessman Dinesh Weerakkody has been appointed as the Chairman of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission.

The Colombo Port City Economic Commission is the main authority managing the Colombo Port City project.

Dinesh Weerakkody served as the former Chairman of the Hatton National Bank and Commercial Bank of Ceylon and is the Vice Chairman of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon.

He is the immediate Past Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, the Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors of Sri Lanka, and the Director of several companies.

Weerakkody is a former Chairman of the Employees’ Trust Fund Board of Sri Lanka, and the National Human Resource Development Council of Sri Lanka.

He was also an Advisor to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2001-2004, the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, and the Minister of Tourism Development.

Dinesh Weerakkody is currently an Advisor on Treasury Affairs to President Ranil Wickremesinghe. (NewsWire)
