The Government sources reveal that the government is contemplating taking loans from Japan, Russia and China as a measure to ease the current foreign reserve shortage the country is going through, Sunday Lankadeepa reported.

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had stated at the Cabinet meeting held last week that discussions have been initiated with friendly countries in this regard.

The Minister has reportedly said that the visit to India is successful and that the Government of India had agreed to provide a relief of about US $ 1.4 billion.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance has also stated that he was in discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and that he hoped to transact in a concessional manner without being subject to strict conditions. (NewsWire)
