The mother of a 12-year-old girl, who had died due to COVID-19, has appealed to the public not to allow the virus to spread further.
The Grade -07 student of a school in Nawala had died while receiving treatment at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo.
The child is reported to have had a minor illness after which she had developed breathing difficulties.
She was thereafter admitted to the hospital, after which a PCR test had confirmed that she had contracted the coronavirus.
The mother of the child, who is a resident of Rajagiriya, has called on the public not to allow their children to fall victim to the virus.
“Corona took my child away. It is not right to let what happened to my child to anyone. Don’t allow COVID-19 to win,” she said. (NewsWire)
