Drunk State Minister breaks into prison with friends – The Morning

An influential State Minister is reported to have forcefully entered the Welikada Prison premises yesterday (12) while being under the influence of alcohol, The Morning reported. 

According to The Morning newspaper, the State Minister is said to have entered the prison premises to provide a tour of the prison and its gallows to his friends who had accompanied him at the time. 

The report said the State Minister, who is reportedly from a political family, was in possession of a pistol, while his friends who were dressed casually had also been intoxicated at the time of the incident. 

Stating that some of the State Minister’s friends were intoxicated to the level of falling onto the ground, the report added that the group had verbally abused the prison officials who had attempted to prevent them from entering the prison.
