England likely to play all 2 Tests in Galle

England has reportedly confirmed their tour of Sri Lanka for two Tests in January 2021.

According to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) both matches will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium to create a bubble.

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said Daily FT newspaper that England is scheduled to arrive on 3rd January 2021 and will play the first test from 14-18 January.

The second Test will take place from 23-27 January, he said.

Silva said despite the England team arriving 11 days prior to the first test, they will not play any warm-up games against any Sri Lankan team.

However, it has been organized for the team to play warm-up games amongst themselves.

The SLC CEO further said the England team has been instructed to undergo quarantine for 14-days prior to their departure to Sri Lanka.

The team will be subjected to PCR tests upon their arrival in Sri Lanka and will thereafter be placed in their travel bubble.

The series, which is part of the World Test Championship, was postponed from March this year following the outbreak of COVID-19.

Sri Lanka’s three –test series against Bangladesh was also postponed after the latter refused to adhere to the tough health guidelines issued by the Government of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
