The Colombo District Court today issued an enjoining order preventing Minister Wimal Weerawansa from making false and malicious statements against All Ceylon Makkal Congress MP Rishad Bathiudeen.
The enjoining order, which is in effect till 30th March, was issued by Colombo District Judge Aruna Aluthge.
Meanwhile, the judge had also issued an enjoining order against three private television organizations in the country.
The three organizations have been requested to refrain from promoting the statements of Minister Weerawansa by broadcasting it via their channels.
The enjoining orders were issued after MP Bathiudeen had filed an application with the court on charges of defamation.
In his application, he claimed that the comments made by Wimal Weerawansa on the 09th of March had caused harm to his reputation. (NewsWire)
