Chairperson of Export Development Board (EDB) Prabhash Subasinghe has tendered his resignation, the Sunday Morning reported.
Stating that he had agreed with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to remain in the position for only a year, Subasinghe said he has resigned in order to pursue his personal business matters.
Subasinghe said despite the coronavirus pandemic the EDB managed to support exporters and connect them with customers across the world.
Prabhash Subasinghe’s resignation comes on the back of Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Susantha Ratnayake’s decision to step down from his post recently.
The two State officials were appointed to their respective positions by President Rajapaksa in December 2019.
Prabhash Subasinghe’s is the Managing Director of GRI (Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd.), a manufacturer of high-performance Specialty Tires, which sells its products in over 50 countries. He is also the Managing Director of GSF (Global Sea Foods Pvt. Ltd.), a processor and supplier of high-quality seafood, a group which also has ten offices globally. (NewsWire)
