Fake Doctor Pass : Three arrested along with vehicles

Three people have been arrested for impersonating professionals and employees of essential services during the islandwide travel restriction enforced in Sri Lanka.

The Police said all three suspects have been arrested for misusing vehicles permits issued for doctors.

  • A 30-year-old resident of Wellawatte has been arrested by the Narahenpita Police for travelling in a car with a vehicle permit issued to a doctor.
  • A 46-year-old was arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police while travelling in a car bearing a vehicle permit of a doctor on Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo 07.
  • A 28-year-old was arrested by the Fort Police while also travelling in a vehicle with a vehicle permit issued to a doctor.

The Police said the vehicles have been seized and will be produced in court.

They further warned the public to refrain from misusing permits issued to employees of essential service.

The Police are to conduct special operations to apprehend individuals impersonating professionals and employees of essential services. (NewsWire)
