Renowned Sri Lankan medical expert, Professor Arjuna de Silva has highlighted various articles on social media consisting of fake statements allegedly made by him related to herbal diabetic medicines.
The said articles are reportedly using fake statements by the Professor to promote the sale of diabetes-related herbal medical products on social media.
A wellness-related website is found to have reported an interview with Professor Arjuna de Silva promoting various herbal medicines for diabetes.
Refuting the totally fabricated interview and the content of the article, Professor Arjuna de Silva said the Police Cyber Crimes Unit has been informed in this regard.
He further warned that legal action would be taken against any individual or organisation selling medical products using his name.
Professor Arjuna de Silva urged the public to remain vigilant of such fake statements and not to stop their regular Western medicine and fall pray to this false advertising.
Inquiries by NewsWire have also found various third parties on unknown websites selling herbal medicines using fake quotes from medical experts and top actors in Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
