A 46-year-old man and his 12-year-old daughter have died after falling into the Kumbukkanaaruwa Oya in the Onegama area in the Pulasthipura Police Division today.
The Police stated that area residents together with the Police and Navy had launched a search operation for the missing individuals, and their bodies were found 2 kilometres away from where they had fallen.
Initial investigations have revealed that the father and daughter had fallen into the river while attempting to take a selfie.
The deceased are residents of Kattankudy, while the 46-year-old man is a teacher at a school in the Onegama area.
The Pulasthipura Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
