A 60-year-old man has been apprehended over the murder of his 30-year-old son in the Nelliya area in Welgaala, Kumbukgetiya on Sunday (Feb 18).
According to the Police, the deceased is found to have been addicted to narcotics.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim had regularly engaged in disputes with his father seeking money to purchase drugs.
The Police said on the day of the incident as well, the son and father had engaged in an altercation over money during which the father had attacked the son with a hammer.
The father has been arrested over the murder, while the Kumbukgetiya Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
