Preparations are underway for Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Professor G.L. Peiris said.
He told reporters yesterday that the Finance Minister is expected to meet the Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi in the coming days.
“The Indian High Commission in Colombo and the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi are finalizing details of the visit,” he revealed.
Minister Peiris stated that the visit will also include meetings with other senior officials and Indian Government Ministers as well.
Stating that Minister Rajapaksa will not look at obtaining more loans from India, he said instead, the Finance Minister will look to seek more investments and attract tourists from India.
“We have strong relations with India. It is not focused on just one area,” the Foreign Minister pointed out.
Minister Peiris added that India has always offered assistance to Sri Lanka when the need arose. (NewsWire)
