Explosive opener Kusal Janith Perera will not play in today’s first Twenty-20 International (T20I) match against South Africa.
Kusal Janith Perera has fully recovered from Covid-19 and has begun practices, but selectors are not in a hurry to include him in the team.
The cricketer last played a competitive match in the England series in June where he captained the side.
“We will not rush him, we might play him in the 2nd or 3rd T20I after consulting with medical authorities,” an SLC official said.
Sri Lanka head into the T20I series after successfully winning the One Day International series against the Proteas 2-1.
The first T20I will be played at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo today at 7.00 PM. (NewsWire)
